Five arrested in connection with 'sulky' race

Five men have been arrested in connection with a 'sulky' race on the Cork to Mallow road last May.

The men in their 20s and 30s were arrested in a series of dawn raids across Cork city.

They are being held at Gurranbraher station and will be brought before a sitting of the District Court later this morning.

The incident sparked outrage after footage posted on YouTube showed between 60-70 spectators following the sulky race in cars and vans weaving in and out through the oncoming traffic.
