Gardaí to target learner drivers
Gardaí are targeting learner drivers in a high-visibility enforcement campaign beginning this Bank Holiday weekend.
There are more than 260,000 learner-permit holders who must always be accompanied by fully-qualified drivers along with displaying their L plates.
"There has been recent compliance," said Chief Superintendent Aiden Reid from the Garda Traffic Bureau:
"However there is still 36% of those who are driving as novice drivers are still failing to comply."
"They will be the focus of our high-visibility enforcement activity over this weekend and as we go into the last part of the year."
