Two thousand teachers stage Leinster House protest

An estimated 2,000 teachers and student teachers are taking part in a protest against education cuts outside Leinster House.

The demonstrators are warning that there is no room for a further funding reduction in December's Budget.

They are also demanding equal pay for equal work for newly graduated teachers.

The protest has been organised by the Irish National Teachers Organisation, the Association of Secondary Teachers in Ireland and the Teachers Union of Ireland.

Demonstratos say the sector is suffering from four years of spending cuts - warning that more reductions in December's Budget will have a detrimental impact on school children.
