Poultry plant closure leads to 90 job losses in Cavan

Up to 90 jobs are to be lost at a poultry plant in Cootehill in Co Cavan.

A liquidator has been appointed to Co-operative Poultry Products Ltd and workers were told yesterday the plant will close with immediate effect.

SIPTU has said the closure of the factory will have a devastating effect on the local community, the 90 staff, and the more than 25 local growers who have also lost their source of income.
