The number of women travelling to the UK for an abortion has decreased for the 10th year in a row with 4,149 women doing so in 2011.

The number of women travelling to the UK for an abortion has decreased for the 10th year in a row with 4,149 women doing so in 2011.

The Crisis Pregnancy Programme has published its annual report for last year, which also shows that the number of teenagers giving birth has fallen.

The number of women travelling abroad for an abortion has decreased by 53% in the last 10 years, while the number of teenage births declined by 44% over the same period.

The CPP credited considerable improvements in the number of young people receiving relationships and sex education as well as an increased use of contraception for the trend.
