Varadkar set to launch anti-drug driving measures

New anti-drug driving measures are expected to be launched today that include a series of roadside tests, such as walking in a straight line and balancing on one leg.
The new measures for motorists are contained in a report from the Medical Bureau of Road Safety.
According to reports, it is expected to recommend that Gardaí test for drug driving in the same way they currently do for alcohol.
Motorists will be asked to get out of their vehicle and carry out a number of tasks such as standing on one leg while touching the tip of the nose and walking in a straight line whilst counting.
Cannabis and benzodiazapines are the most prevalent drugs followed by cocaine, amphetamines and prescription pills.
The report will be launched by the Transport Minister Leo Varadkar this afternoon.
