Quinn: I don't owe taxpayers an apology

Supporters of the Quinn family are gearing up for another rally in the town of Ballyconnell, County Cavan this Sunday.

It is the second event of its kind, after the first attracted up to 4,000 people, including a number of well known faces, in July.

Meanwhile, Sean Quinn Senior has given an interview to the Financial Times today in which he says he doesn't owe Irish taxpayers an apology.

The bankrupt former billionaire said there were few companies that have paid more tax to the Irish government than his group, adding that the biggest disgrace was the jailing of his son Sean Quinn Junior for contempt of court.

“The biggest disgrace about all this is they have my son in jail and me ready to go to it for taking assets which we believe then and now are ours,” he argued in the interview.
