Toyota Ireland recall 36,000 cars

Toyota Ireland is recalling 36,000 cars - because of a fire risk linked to faulty window switches.

The voluntary recall applies to around 9,000 Yaris cars, 10,000 Auris, 14,000 Corolla and 2,000 Rav 4s - as is part of a worldwide recall of nearly 7.5 million vehicles by the Japanese carmaker.

The cars all have registration plates from between 2006 and 2008.

Toyota Ireland is to write to all owners affected - to arrange to have their cars checked by their local dealer for free.

Any owner with a query can contact Toyota Ireland on 01 - 4190222.

Steve Settle is a customer services Director at Toyota in the UK:
