The State Pathologist Marie Cassidy will this evening carry out a post mortem examination on the body of a 47-year-old man who died in a suspected hit-and-run incident in Co Donegal.

The body of the local man, who gardaí have not yet named, has now been taken from the scene to Sligo General Hospital.

The crash happened at about 12.40am today on the N15, near Ballyshannon town.

Superintendent Leo McGinn told Highland Radio that gardaí are appealing for witnesses, or for anyone who travelled the road between midnight and about 12.40am, to contact them.
