Lough Derg search continues for missing vessel-owner

A search is continuing in Lough Derg this evening for a person believed to have been involved in a boating accident last night.

The alarm was raised in the Youghal Bay area of the lake at around 9.20pm yesterday, when a damaged speedboat was found upturned in the water.

The owner of the vessel has been identified, but has not been located. No one has been reported missing in the area.

Spokesperson for Lough Derg RNLI Lifeboat, Eleanor Hooker, said gardaí were appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
