Report questions Phoenix Park suitability as music venue

Questions are being raised about the suitability of the Phoenix Park as an outdoor venue to host music concerts.

A policing report into last month's controversial Swedish House Mafia concert found that the Dublin park is not a suitable venue for what Gardaí described as "outdoor electric music concerts".

The report also found that gardaí warned the music promoters MCD, before the event that they had a number of concerns, including alcohol sales, gate opening times and stewarding.

But MCD has accused the Garda statement of being "unbalanced" and is calling for an independent public inquiry to be carried out instead.

Nine people were stabbed and dozens more were arrested during the gig on July 7.
