The Minister for Communications Pat Rabbitte has said that 'foolish gambling decisions' by the former billionaire Sean Quinn have 'cost the country and the taxpayer dearly'.

Mr Quinn is currently involved in a legal dispute with the former Anglo Irish Bank over debts of €2.3 billion.

Minister Rabbitte said that he is 'sorry to see the disintegration' of Sean Quinn's business, but he also added that generations to come will still be picking up the pieces.
