The European Commission has proposed to provide €2.7m to help 572 workers made redundant at Talk Talk in Waterford and three of their suppliers.

The European Commission has proposed to provide €2.7m to help 572 workers made redundant at Talk Talk in Waterford and three of their suppliers.

The money is to come from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund.

It is part of a €5.4m package aimed at helping workers upgrade their skills and find new jobs.

The proposal will now go to the European Parliament and the EU's Council of Ministers for their approval.
