Peter Darragh Quinn's whereabouts unknown
The whereabouts of the nephew of businessman Sean Quinn are still unknown this morning, after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Yesterday, the High Court sentenced Peter Darragh Quinn to three months in prison for contempt of court. He had failed to turn up in court, claiming he was sick, despite the fact that he had appeared well when swearing an affidavit to his lawyer at 3am yesterday.
He will evade imprisonment if he is staying at his usual residence in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, as gardaí have no powers to seek his return from another jurisdiction.
Sean Quinn Junior began a three-month jail sentence in Mountjoy prison last night.
Sean Quinn Senior has been given that time to sort out his financial situation to the satisfaction of IBRC, the former Anglo Irish Bank.
The sentences were handed down for the men's failure to comply with court orders directing them to unravel schemes designed to put a €500m international property portfolio beyond the reach of Anglo Irish Bank
In her ruling, Ms Justice Dunne described the contempt of the three Quinns to date as "outrageous" and "most serious".
Sean Quinn Senior is expected to mount a Supreme Court challenge early next week to overturn yesterday’s High Court ruling.
