Magee stepping down due to HSE restructure

The head of the Health Service Executive said that he is stepping down from the position due to Government plans to replace the Executive's existing structure.

A new directorate with a Director General is being proposed and HSE Chief Executive Cathal Magee said that this role is very different to his current position.

Fianna Fáil has accused the Government and the Health Minister James Reilly of shoving Mr. Magee out of the job, after restructuring plans were announced today which give the Department of Health more control of the HSE.

Cathal Magee has said that he is stepping down due to the changes.
