A Guyanese father in desperate financial straits has been jailed for three and a half years for smuggling 55 pellets of cocaine into Ireland in his stomach.

Gordon Plass (aged 41) pleaded guilty to possessing nearly €39,000 worth of the drug after he was stopped at Dublin Airport last February and was found to have a suspiciously distended stomach.
