A 40-year-old man has been acquitted of the attempted murder of his estranged wife two years ago after a jury found him not guilty by reason of insanity.

Alexander Gano, with a last address at Connaught Street in Dublin 7, had pleaded not guilty at the Central Criminal Court to the attempted murder of Monica Ganova at North Circular Road, Dublin 7 on July 12, 2010.
