Woman accused of impeding Wexford murder investigation

A woman has gone on trial today accused of impeding the murder investigation into the death of Rebecca French, whose body was found in the boot of a burning car in Wexford.

Helen Connors, with an address at Belvedere Grove, Wexford denies the charge.

Ms Connors is accused of cleaning up evidence at a house in the Ard na Dara estate where Rebecca French met a tragic and violent end on October 9, 2009.

The jury heard that she told gardaĂ that she was in fear when ordered to carry out the clean-up by the men responsible for the assault on Ms French as they went to dispose of the body.

The murder victim, a mother-of-two, was found dead in the boot of her Opel Corsa which was set on fire down a laneway.

Opening the trial, the prosecution said that the case is all about Helen Connors' state of mind at the time.

They deny she was in fear and claim she voluntarily took part in the clean-up to stop Rebecca French's attackers from being caught.
