Girl in critical condition and woman killed in Co Cavan crash

A girl is in a critical condition in hospital and a woman has died after a crash in Co Cavan.

The incident, involving a car and a truck, took place on the R162 at Corclare, Shercock, after 5pm on Friday.

The girl, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to Temple Street Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A number of other people in the vehicles received medical treatment at the scene by ambulance staff.

The road was closed overnight for examination by forensic collision investigators and local diversions are in place.

An appeal for witnesses and those with camera footage of the incident has been made.
