Kenny: Government 'stands ready' to facilitate Wallace motion

Taoiseach Enda Kenny says the Government "stands ready" to facilitate a motion of censure in Mick Wallace.

His comments come after all party whips agreed to hold off on a motion pending Mr Wallace's tax affairs being examined by the Committee on Members Interests.

The deputy government whip Emmet Stagg also suggested a "good citizen" could make a complaint to the Gardai about Mick Wallace.

The Wexford TD was today named and shamed in the revenue defaulters list.

Kenny told the Dáil this may well end up with the Dáil censuring deputy Wallace: "I believe that Deputy Wallace's position is of the utmost seriousness.

"I expect that the committee can meet tomorrow and hopefully deal with this question decisively. For it's part, the government stands ready if necessary to put together a motion in this matter."
