Gardaí seize explosive substances in Mayo house raid

Gardaí have seized explosive substances and bomb-making components during a raid on a house in Mayo.

The discovery was made during a search of a house at Clogher, Claremorris yesterday.

Gardaí have said that the operation was part of an ongoing investigation into dissident republican activity in the West of Ireland.

Two men, one in his late 20s and another in his 30s, were arrested at the scene and taken to Castlebar Garda Station where they are currently being detained.

An Army bomb disposal team has sealed off the area for a technical and forensic examination.
