Man charged with mother's nursing-home murder

A 45-year-old man has been remanded in custody after he was charged with the murder of his mother in a nursing home in Co Waterford earlier this year.

Gerard Bollrath had previously been charged with the manslaughter of his 83-year-old mother Veronica at Killure Bridge Nursing Home in Co Waterford on January 9 last.

At Waterford District Court today, Bollrath was charged with the murder of his mother. The Manslaughter charge was struck out.

Judge Kevin Staunton remanded Bollrath to the next sitting of the Central Criminal Court, which starts in Dublin tomorrow.
