Children 'missing school' due to damp, Dolphin House residents say

Children are missing out on school as a result of dire living conditions, according to a report on Dolphin House on Dublin's South Circular Road.

Children are missing out on school as a result of dire living conditions, according to a report on Dolphin House on Dublin's South Circular Road.

Residents of Dolphin House, in Rialto will present a third report today to Dublin City Council on living conditions within the flats complex.

The residents are calling on the city council to regenerate the entire complex to resolve damp and sewage problems.

This latest report concentrates specifically on the conditions are affecting the health of children living in Dolphin House.

Most of the residents of the flats say the living conditions within in the complex are so bad, they are affecting children's health.

Spokesperson Debbie Mulhall, said: "If our children are not able to go to school because of illness, (including respiratory problems, asthma and bugs) where is their future going to land them?"

"When I asked residents how many days of school their children had missed because of these problems, they said 'numerous'."

She called on Dublin City Council and the departments of health and education to come together to examine the situation.
