Ireland has backed the European Fiscal Stability Treaty with around 60% of those that turned out to vote yesterday saying Yes to the treaty.

Ireland has backed the European Fiscal Stability Treaty with around 60% of those that turned out to vote yesterday saying Yes to the treaty.

Only five of the 43 constituencies voted No.

A national declaration is expected in about an hour's time as the majority of constituencies have now announced results.

The first result came just after 12.30pm today from Tipperary South giving a 60.65% approval to the treaty.

Shortly afterwards Donegal South West became the first No constituency, just under 55% voting against the treaty.

Others No voters have come from Donegal North East, Dublin South West, Dublin Central, and Dublin North West.

The highest Yes result in the country, at 75.84%, was in Dublin South.

The closest result in the country is Dublin Mid West, 50.01% voted yes while 49.99% chose No.

Only four of the 43 constituencies have to declare now.
