Device thrown at officers in Armagh

Police officers have escaped injury after a device was thrown at them in Co Armagh.
The attack happened during a search at around 10am today in the Drumbeg areas of Craigavon.
Neighbourhood inspector Philip Shepherd said: “Those who carried out this attack have shown callous disregard for the safety of the local community and my officers, especially as a number of children were close by at the time of the attack.”
There have been a number of attacks on police and other violent acts recently.
Vehicles were hijacked last week after the two killers of Constable Stephen Carroll, who was going to the aid of a 999 caller in the area when he was ambushed and shot by the Continuity IRA, were sentenced to life imprisonment.
