'Emperor is buck naked': SF's McDonald on austerity

Opposition to the Fiscal Treaty is set to dominate the second day of the Sinn Féin Ard Fheis.

The live television address of party leader Gerry Adams this evening is expected to focus on encouraging a no vote.

RTE will allocate the same time for which Mr Adams speaks, to the Taoiseach Enda Kenny tomorrow night for an address on the treaty.

Deputy leader Mary Lou McDonald told the Ard Fheis last night that Europe was no longer signed up to this treaty and the policies it imposes.

"Oo la la, along comes Francois Hollande and the French electorate, and electorates in Italy and Britain and Greece and parliamentarians in Germany itself, all blowing the whistle and saying the emperor is buck naked and austerity has failed," she said.
