Gardaí have launched a murder investigation, after a post mortem on a man who was found dead in Waterford yesterday showed he'd been assaulted.

Gardaí have launched a murder investigation, after a post mortem on a man who was found dead in Waterford yesterday showed he had been assaulted.

The body of 22 year old Martin Brophy was found at a derelict building on Newgate Street at about 6 o'clock yesterday evening.

Investigating officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

So far, there have been no arrests made.
