HSE to recruit social workers to plug vacancies

Up to 57 social workers are being recruited by the HSE to fill recent vacancies.

Up to 57 social workers are being recruited by the HSE to fill recent vacancies.

Of the 57 being recruited, 48 are in Child and Family Services, which has 14 more social workers now than since the start of last year. .

It comes after a promise to fill an extra 220 roles in the wake of reports into child abuse.

While many of those were recruited, the total number of social workers employed was down as a result of retirements, career breaks and maternity leave.
