Gardaí search for armed gang following bank robbery

Gardaí are looking for an armed gang following a bank robbery in County Cavan this evening.

Raiders made off with a substantial amount of cash after the heist on the Bank of Ireland in Kingscourt.

Shortly before five o'clock this evening, a number of men armed with a handgun entered the Bank of Ireland on Main Street in Kingscourt, County Cavan and held up staff.

No shots were fired and no one was injured, but the gang made off in a waiting car with a substantial amount of cash.

This car was set alight a short distance away, and the men proceeded to make their escape in a second car seen heading in the direction of Bailieborough.

Anyone with information, or who may have seen something suspicious in recent days on Main Street in Kingscourt, is being asked to contact the gardaí in Bailieborough.
