EU political upheaval adds to treaty instability: Murphy
The Fiscal Treaty could become a "dead duck" and a hostage to the changing political landscape in Europe, Socialist Party MEP Paul Murphy has said.
He said there was much uncertainty surrounding the Treaty's future with political upheaval in France, Greece and the Netherlands casting a huge doubt over its long-term viability.
"In a whole number of countries, this Treaty is in trouble," he said. "This puts the Irish people in a unique position (of) adding to the momentum against this treaty and potentially could see it finished."
