Aviva 'to reduce number of job losses, and may create Galway jobs'
It is reported that insurance company Aviva has cut down the number of job losses planned at their Irish operation, after initially planning to let 950 people go.
Aviva Insurance broke the news to staff last October that it was looking to make nearly 1,000 of them redundant.
Negotiations then got underway with unions on the redundancy packages which would be on offer.
According to the Irish Independent however, up to 400 jobs which were to be lost could now be saved, and the company may be about to create new jobs in Galway.
Aviva Insurance currently employs around 2,000 people across the country.
More details about their plans are expected to be released later today.
