SF 'willing' to debate treaty on TV; Germany 'delays' ratification
The Sinn Féin Party has said its leader Gerry Adams wants to debate the EU Fiscal Treaty with Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
Both sides have been invited to a televised debate by TV3.
In a statement Sinn Féin said that Mr Adams is "ready and willing" to debate the treaty with the Taoiseach.
The party's campaign director Eoin O’Broin said: "Sinn Féin will meet with TV3 in the coming days to discuss the format of the proposed debate."
Elsewhere, It has been reported that the German parliament is delaying its plans for the ratification of the compact.
The treaty was earmarked for debate in the Bundestag on May 25, but opposition politicians have been demanding the inclusion of growth measures and a financial transaction tax.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that a spokesman for Angela Merkel has said they want to have the agreement ratified before the summer break in July.
