Man stabbed to death in Cork city
A man has been stabbed to death during a fight in Cork city in the early hours of this morning.
The 31-year-old victim, who was a local man, died from stab wounds to the chest at Cork University Hospital after he was rushed there by ambulance.
A man and a woman, both in their 20s, were arrested close to the scene and are being held at the Bridewell garda station in Cork.
The incident happened at Infirmary Road shortly after 2am, yards from Garda district headquarters on Anglesea Street.
The area has been sealed off this morning, pending a forensic examination.
Gardaí at Anglesea are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have information to contact them.
This was the second stabbing incident in Cork city in fewer than 48 hours.
A man in his 30s remains in a serious condition after being attacked in Fairhill on Friday afternoon.
