Toddler dies after fall from Dublin apartment
A toddler who fell from the window of a fifth floor apartment has died today.
The two-year-old boy was left fighting for his life after plunging from the flat in The Tramyards in Inchicore, Dublin.
Gardaí said emergency services were alerted just after 10am when the toddler, whose family are originally from Brazil, fell several storeys.
He was rushed to Crumlin Children’s Hospital, where he has died.
“It was a tragic accident,” said a Garda spokesman.
It is understood the boy’s mother was the only other person in the apartment when he fell and landed at a sloped entrance of an underground car park.
Local Councillor Rebecca Moynihan sent her sympathies to the boy’s family, their neighbours and the Brazilian community.
“It’s every parent’s worst nightmare,” she said. “It’s a tragic accident.”
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
