Rescue operation begins off Mayo coast
A rescue operation is underway off the Mayo coastline this morning, after a man on board a commercial boat sustained injuries to his leg.
The all-weather Ballyglass lifeboat was launched just after 9am after the boat , the James Collins, sought assistance about 10 miles west of Erris Head.
There are three people on board.
The injured local man was working on the shaft when the incident occurred.
He has been brought up to the deck of the ship and will be taken on board the Ballyglass lifeboat, from where he will be airlifted to hospital.
