IT firm to expand Irish workforce

A total of 65 new jobs are to be created in Galway and Dublin over the next three years with the expansion of an IT consultancy firm.

IT consultancy and services provider Sogeti has announced an investment which will see its Irish workforce increased to 150 by 2015,

The new jobs will be a mixture of highly-skilled and graduate roles, and recruitment is now underway.

The announcement was made by the Enterprise Minister Richard Bruton, who is currently in China as part of a four-day trade mission.

Sogeti has had a presence in Ireland since 1979 and is a subsidiary of global consulting, IT and outsourcing company Capgemini, which employs around 120,000 people in 40 countries.

"Today’s expansion will see the company’s Irish workforce increase to over 150 people and is a result of the company’s strong growth and healthy pipeline of new business," a statement said.

"Sogeti’s services are a key part of the IT infrastructure of Irish based multinationals, helping them deliver their international business."

Minister Bruton said today's announcement was "an indication of what is possible".
