President urges Irish to spurn consumerism

President Michael D Higgins has urged Irish people to spurn consumerism and work towards an inclusive citizenship based on social solidarity and mutual respect.

He was speaking at a special St Patrick's Day reception at Aras an Uachtaráin this afternoon.
