Gardai arrest two men after raid on bookmakers

Gardai in Co Cork have arrested two men following an armed raid on a bookmakers this evening.

The robbery happened in Tower, near Blarney, at around half past five, when two masked men armed with hand guns held up a bookies and made off with 5,000 Euro.

They made their getaway in a Volkwagen Golf, which they abandoned a short distance away at Cannon's Cross.

The men were pursued through fields by gardai, who caught them and recovered the stolen cash.

However, the two handguns have not been found.

The pair - who are both in their twenties - are being questioned at Gurranabraher and Mayfield Garda Stations.
