SF meeting to discuss referendum 'no' strategy

Sinn Féin says "bully boy" tactics are being used to scare the Irish people into passing the forthcoming referendum on the EU fiscal treaty.

The party's foreign affairs spokesperson Padraig MacLochlainn said Sinn Féin will lead political opposition to the Eurozone agreement.

Members of the party are meeting in Dublin today to discuss their strategy for a no vote campaign.

Donegal TD MacLochlainn said passing the referendum will seriously undermine Irish sovereignty.

"Ireland is a member of the Eurozone," he said.

"If we vote no, we'll still be a member of the Eurozone.

"There is hardly going to be a scenario where we would be allowed to fall, considering that we have honoured all of our payments to the Troika; we've met all of the targets that they have set.

"Are they seriously suggesting that they will leave us to fall into the Atlantic? No at all," he added.

"There will be no bully boy tactics against the Irish people."
