Govt unveils plans to bring new investment to Ireland

The Government has unveiled plans to pay up to €1,500 per job in a finder's fee to people who bring new investors to Ireland.

It is hoped 5,000 jobs will be created in the move in the next five years.

Small companies and individuals not normally targetted by the IDA will be the focus of the initiative.

It is the idea of Terry Clune who put it forward at last year's Global Irish Forum.

Mr Clune said: "If you are a small internet company in the US or China or Brazil and you are told that Google, Yahoo, YouTube and Facebook have all their European operations in Ireland, you are going to take interest.

"We just need to get that message out there. This initiative is open to absolutely everybody, There are three million Irish people above the age of 18. Together we all know a huge amount of people."
