Bruton: Ireland needs 'powerful engine of indigenous enterprise'

Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Minister Richard Bruton has said that Ireland needs more indigenous start-ups as some 110 jobs were announced in two separate expansions this morning.

Cloud computing company SourceDogg.com is to take on 80 workers in Galway, while Datalogic ADC, part of a world-leading firm involved in data collection, is taking on 30 staff.

Minister Richard Bruton welcomed the announcements, saying: “If we are to reach the levels of employment and economic growth which we are determined to achieve, we must create a powerful engine of indigenous enterprise.

“Crucial in this will be exporting companies, and in particular hi-tech, engineering-driven companies, and the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs spells out a range of measures we will take to support these companies as they expand and create jobs.”

The 80 hi-tech jobs at SourceDogg are in engineering, IT support and professional services.

Datalogic ADC, a division of the Datalogic Group, is to open a new headquarters for its business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, offering shared services and customer management.

It will offer work to accountants, accounts payable/receivables, order management and inside sales personnel.
