Former Northern Ireland First Minister Ian Paisley is making “steady progress” after being admitted to hospital earlier this month, he son Ian Jnr said today.

Former Northern Ireland First Minister Ian Paisley is making “steady progress” after being admitted to hospital earlier this month, he son Ian Jnr said today.

He told BBC Radio Ulster’s Talkback programme: “He has demonstrated that there is life in the old dog yet. He is a very hearty and strong man.”

Mr Paisley, 85, was admitted to the Ulster Hospital, Dundonald, near Belfast suffering from apparent heart failure. At one stage he was in intensive care.
