Gardaí have refused to blame any group in the shooting of a man in Co Donegal yesterday.

They named the 24-year-old shot dead yesterday as Andrew Allen.

The Derry native was gunned down in the bedroom of a house in Links View Park in Buncrana last night, after moving to the area around six months ago.

His partner was also in the house at the time but she was not injured in the attack.

Technical examinations are continuing at the scene and a post mortem will be carried out on the victim's remains later.

Speaking at a press conference, Superintendent Kevin English refused to be drawn on reports that those behind the killing has links with a group known as the 'Republican Action Against Drugs':

Superintendent English said: "As this is a very early stage in this complex investigation, I am not going to affiliate the perpetratiors of this crime to any particular grouping until further investigations have been carried out."

"This will necessitate close co-operation with the Police Service of Northern Ireland, so until our inquiries are completed, I am not going to ascribe the perpetrators to a particular grouping."
