Man charged in connection with Blanchardstown shooting
A 41-year-old has been granted bail after he was charged in connection with a non-fatal shooting of a man in Blanchardstown in Dublin, last Wednesday.
A 25-year-old was hospitalised after he was shot in the face at Whitestown Park area.
Patrick Fortune with an address at Whitestown Park in Blanchardstown, was charged today with assault causing harm to Shane Williams and unlawful possession of a sawn-off shotgun in connection with the incident.
Garda Sgt Dan Callaghan told Judge Anthony Halpin at Blanchardstown District Court that the defendant "had nothing to say" in reply to either charge.
Gda Sgt Callaghan initially sought a remand in custody but later agreed to bail.
Defence solicitor Mairead White said her client would obey conditions set down by the court.
Mr Fortune, who did not speak during the hearing, was ordered to sign on at Blanchardstown garda station daily, stay away from the Whitestown Avenue and to surrender his passport.
Bail in his own bond of €1,000 with an independent surety of €1,000 was set and he was remanded to appear again on March 30.
