A man has died following a shooting in a pub in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

A man has died following a shooting in a pub in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

The victim, a 36-year-old man, was gunned down at the Cappagh Nua pub in Finglas at 1.05am.

The victim was in the pub on Barry Road in Finglas when a lone gunman entered the premises and fired a number of shots.

The guman shot the victim in the head before fleeing the scene.

The victim was brought to Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown, where he was pronounced dead.

The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination and a post mortem is expected to be carried out later.

Investigating officers are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with information on the killing, to come forward.
