Finance Minister Michael Noonan has said that Ireland will be given extra time to comply with new EU budget rules because the country is already in a bailout programme.

Fianna Fáil has claimed that the new EU fiscal treaty will commit the Government to making an additional €6bn cuts in order to meet the strict targets.
