Gardaí investigating the killing of Ger McMahon on Lenihan Avenue on January 18 have arrested a 44-year-old male.

He is being is detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Roxboro Road garda station.

Mr McMahon, 43, was found seriously injured with multiple stab wounds outside a house on Lenihan Avenue in the Ballinacurra Weston area.

Yesterday, two brothers appeared at the District Court in Limerick in connection with the killing.

Sean Flanagan (aged 26) of Lenihan Avenue in Limerick was charged with his murder, while his brother Ian Flanagan (aged 22), of the same address, was charged with impeding the murder investigation.

Both men were granted free legal aid and remanded in custody until next Tuesday, when a bail application will be made for Ian Flanagan.
