The Labour MEP Proinsias De Rossa has announced that he is stepping down from the European Parliament next month.

The Labour MEP Proinsias De Rossa has announced that he is stepping down from the European Parliament next month.

He is expected to be replaced by former Lord Mayor of Dublin Emer Costello.

He has been a public representative for 30 years, having been elected to the Dáil in 1982, and has been a member of the Labour Party, Worker's Party and Democratic Left.
