Middle-class Terenure residents demand constituency change

Residents of Terenure in south Dublin have written to the Constituency Commission asking it to consider moving the neighbourhood from Dublin South Central to Dublin South East.

The Association of Residents of Terenure say the boundaries should be moved as they have a more "cultural affinity" to their former constituency.

Dublin South-East includes areas such as Donnybrook, Sandymount, Ranelagh and Rathmines.

While, Dublin South-Central takes in places like Crumlin, Dolphin's Barn, Drimnagh, Inchicore and Ballyfermot.

The group also says that local TDs in Dublin South Central do not pay enough attention to their ”middle class” concerns and there is “no logical affinity” with other areas in its current electoral district.
