Confidential service against drug dealing stops
Sinn Féin is calling on the Government to immediately reinstate the 'dial to stop drug dealing' initiative.
The service, which allowed for citizens to call a confidential number when they suspected drug activity, came to an end at midnight last night.
The initiative, which cost €6m a year, has directly and indirectly led to numerous seizures of drugs in the last two years.
According to members of the State's drugs taskforce, the service was invaluable to citizens because it guaranteed confidentiality and allowed the community work against drug dealers.
